Sedation Dentistry

By far, most appointments at the dental office are quick and easy. Sometimes, however, going in for a dental appointment can be a stressful thing. At Smile Restorations, we never want you to feel afraid to get the treatment that you so desperately need. This is the reason we offer oral sedation to our patients who need just a little extra courage to be able to make it to the dental office. If you chose to have sedation to help you with a procedure, you will arrive at our office (with an escort who can drive you and help you to and from your car) an hour before the scheduled treatment where you will be given a medication (not a shot) to help you relax. It will take 30-50 minutes to take full effect. Once in the treatment room, we can increase the level of comfort by using nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

This type of sedation is easily the safest and most widely accepted form of sedation for dental work. It also has a very high success rate. Be sure to ask us about using it with your procedure and as always, listen to and follow all instructions the doctor gives to you for before and after the procedure. A checklist can be found in our “Forms” section. Call Smile Restorations today at 979-229-1121 for an exam or to ask about sedation for your dental appointment.

There are many reasons patients want cosmetic dental work. An accident could have chipped or cracked a tooth, a defect may have caused embarrassing gaps between teeth or a misaligned jaw.
The overriding factor that leads patients to pursue cosmetic dental work is that there is something about their smile they don’t like.
It is common for us to criticize our looks. Most of us can find something about our smiles that we don’t like, that we wished was different.
The flaws in our patients’ smiles can be sources of poor self-esteem for them. A lack of self-confidence can lead to many negative effects, such as never smiling and not wanting to be with friends and family.
These dental issues are most commonly treated using cosmetic dentistry.
Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses solely on improving and enhancing a patient’s smile.

At Smile Restorations, we want our patients to live happy lives and be proud of their smiles. Cosmetic dentistry is a way to make that positive difference.
There are many types of cosmetic dental procedures available to fix different aesthetic dental problems. These procedures range from teeth whitening to dental bonding.
At Smile Restorations, we offer the following cosmetic dental procedures to our patients:
Bonding - A dental procedure in which tooth-colored material is used to close gaps between teeth or change the color of a tooth.

Contouring and reshaping - A dental procedure that straightens crooked, chipped, cracked or overlapping teeth.
Veneers - A dental procedure in which ultra-thin porcelain coatings are placed over the front teeth, whereby changing the color and/or shape of the teeth.
Tooth Whitening - As the term implies, whitening (or bleaching) is used to make teeth whiter by removing stains in the teeth.
Many of these procedures are simple, easy and quick and involve little to no pain and discomfort. For patients who are still anxious about their cosmetic dental procedure, our office provides oral sedation services to help them feel more comfortable.
